2020 Scholarship Recipients

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Atlanta is pleased to announce the recipients from each of the three Post Scholarships; the Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe Scholarship; the Georgia Tech Student Chapter Scholarship; and the Atlanta Area Senior ROTC Scholarship.


Scholarships in honor of Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe


Jacob Kreider was selected for the 2020 Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe Scholarship and will receive $3,500. Jacob is a Senior studying Civil Engineering at Georgia Tech. Jacob is a Division 1 athlete and his remarkable academic achievement speaks volumes to Jacob’s personal character and commitment. As a summer intern, Jacob performed exceptionally on detailed field verification assignments for multiple building renovation projects and an airfield repaving project. Jacob is the Georgia Tech SAME Student Chapter President and a construction volunteer for Jackets without Borders. As Student Chapter President, Jacob seeks to create connections and networks for students to prepare them for the future and to drive positive change to the Society.


Landon Wade was selected for the 2020 Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe Scholarship and will receive $3,000. Landon is a Sophomore studying Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University. Landon is an Eagle Scout and has held several leadership positions in school and in the community. During summer research, Landon proved to be an excellent employee, reliable, dedicated and extremely upbeat. Landon multi-tasks, is able to handle a high-volume workload and is committed to improving transportation systems, particularly in the Atlanta Metro area. After graduation Landon would like to be a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.


Vinay Kotwani was selected for the 2020 Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe Scholarship and will receive $1,000. Vinay completed his senior year at South Forsyth High School. Vinay was a member of multiple clubs and activities showing amazing dedication to his activities, his educational, and entrepreneurial pursuits. He attended the 2018 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers summer camp in Vicksburg, MS through the SAME Atlanta Post. Vinay will be a Freshman at UGA studying Biology on the pre-med track.


Morgan Shorter was selected for the 2020 Sy Liebmann and Al Rowe Scholarship and will receive $1,000. Morgan completed her senior year at Parkview High School. Morgan participated in several clubs, organizations and honor societies. She was a member of the Parkview and Gwinnett County Student Leadership Teams and participated in numerous community service events. Morgan will be a Freshman at UGA and study Biological Sciences.


The GeorgiaTech Student Chapter Scholarship


Jordyn Sak was selected for the 2020 Georgia Tech Student Chapter Scholarship and will receive $1,000. Jordyn attends Georgia Tech and studies Biomedical Engineering. Jordyn is a Division 1 athlete and is active with the Georgia Tech Student Chapter. Jordyn seeks to support collaborative efforts to work with the military and the Georgia Tech Research Institute, leveraging resources and achieving common goals.


The Senior Atlanta Area College ROTC Scholarship


Mory Fode Traore was selected for the Senior Atlanta Area College ROTC Scholarship and will receive $1,000. Mory attends Georgia Tech and is a Senior enrolled in the Army ROTC program. Mory is studying computer engineering and has conducted research with the Department of Defense in the cyber spectrum collaborative research environment. After graduation, Mory plans on serving as a Commissioned Cyber Operations Officer in the Army Reserves.
